JAMB Finally Review The Reason for The Withholds 80,889 UTME Results Over Exam Malpractices
ABUJA – THE Registrar of the Joint
Admission and Matriculation Board. JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, Wednesday said
that the Board withheld about 80,889 results of the Computer Based Test, CBT,
Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME as a result of alleged
examination malpractices. The JAMB Registrar also said that investigation was
ongoing on the alleged malpractices, adding that at the end of it, candidates
that were not culpable, their results will be released. Speaking in Abuja on
the outcome of the UMTE, he said that some owners of Computer Based Test
centres connived with some parents and candidates to cheat, stressing that
names of the cyber café and internet owners that indulged in fraud were being
compiled and that such centres will be delisted from the UTME next year.
According to him, “So far we have released the results of 1,606,901 leaving us
with 80,889, out of this 80,889 we have deliberately withheld 76,923 because of
alleged malpractices in the centres where the examinations were held. “The
remaining have issues like those whose thumbs or biometrics couldn’t be
verified and would not be allowed to do the examination because it would
require further investigation. As of today 640 candidates could not do
biometrics. “We have investigated why and found various reasons. Some are due
to fraudsters; some candidates did registration in unacredited centres. “We are
not saying all the 80,889 committed alleged infraction , in fact, those who
committed the infraction would be less than 10 percent but when something
happens in a centre pending the result of investigation, the best thing is to
withhold the results. “We released the results within 24 hours to make a point,
if we have wanted we could have allowed candidates to get their results immediately
but if we had delayed, people would have said we couldn’t deliver. “If I am
still the JAMB boss in 2018, I won’t release the results until we have taken
all issues and clear all cases against them because that is the international
best practice. “And I want you to know that the results that haven’t been
released will be released before the commencement of admission process for
those who are not guilty of any infraction. ”And those who were not verified,
would be made to write the examination and be part of those who are rewriting
their examination as promised. And they would write it under my very eyes..” He
said many private schools did so many funny things during the examination to
cheat and that the Board will carry out supplementary examination for the
candidates that had issues with the CBT, centres or had issues with their
cables. He however said, “But we won’t reschedule for those with excuses like,
I had accident or I was sick.” The JAMB Registrar said the board was a step
ahead of criminals because they didn’t give candidates same questions on each
session and that candidates who had waited till the last day to register in
order to see whether the examination paper would leak were shortlisted to write
first.

Responding to emerging flood disasters
Coping with the rage of nature
can be quite challenging, especially for a nation that is ill-equipped
to manage disasters. That is why this year’s Annual Flood Outlook
presented by the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency should be of
interest to the Nigerian authorities ahead of what could be another
trying period for the country.
In what could be a repeat of the
2012 experience, where many states were submerged by floodwater for
weeks, the agency warned of the imminence of flooding in 35 out of the
36 states in the country and the Federal Capital Territory. It means
that the entire country practically faces the threat of going under
water, which comes with serious humanitarian challenges, such as
providing a roof over displaced people’s heads, feeding them, clothing
them and providing them with medical care, among other things.
Early signs of what lies ahead
were evident in the collapse on June 16 of two important bridges linking
the northern parts of the country to the southern parts. The Tatabu
Bridge and Bokani Bridge in Niger State were washed away after a
torrential rainfall, ensuring that vehicular traffic from that part of
the country was prevented from accessing the southern part, and vice
versa. This has resulted in a two-week suspension of the Kano-Lagos
train operations, during which time the failed portions are expected to
be repaired. Heavy flooding has also been reported in Bayelsa, Imo and
Oyo states.
During a similar incident in
2012, 431 people were reported dead across the country, with about 1.3
million others displaced and hundreds of acres of farmland submerged, as
rivers burst their banks due to massive flooding occasioned by heavy
rainfall. Farmers lost their entire season’s crops while many houses and
roads were destroyed in what was reportedly the worst flood incident in
the country in 40 years. Then, 30 states were affected, forcing the
then President, Goodluck Jonathan, to set up the Committee on Flood
Relief and Rehabilitation, co-led by businessman, Aliko Dangote, and
Lawyer, Olisa Agbakoba, to raise funds to provide relief materials for
those that were affected.
This year’s forecast is even
more alarming, to say the least; but flooding is fast becoming the trend
the world over. In Sri Lanka, on May 26, CNN, quoting the
country’s Disaster Management Centre, reported the death of no fewer
than 91 people, with 100 others missing, following heavy flooding and
landslide as a result of monsoon rains. Thailand had experienced the
same fate in January, when heavy flooding claimed 12 lives, with many
villages submerged.
In an earlier incident in 2015, a Mail Online report
said that no fewer than 82 lives were lost in the worst flooding in
Europe in decades. About 58 of the dead were reported in the Black Sea
area where many Russian tourists had their cars and tents swept into the
sea by floodwater. In Prague, the capital of Czech Republic, over 50
people, including visitors, were evacuated in the worst flooding
incident in more than a century. Many other cities in Austria, Germany
and Croatia were also affected, with buildings either partially or
totally submerged.
The phenomenon of flooding has
been strongly linked to global warming and the melting glacier of the
Polar Regions, which have led to a substantial rise in seawater levels.
Experts say that the rising global temperature was consistent with heavy
rainfall experienced across the world, since “warmer air holds more
moisture.” The Union of Concerned Scientists, an organisation concerned
about a healthy planet and safer world, says, “When warm air holding
moisture meets cooler air, the moisture condenses into tiny droplets
that float in the air. If the drops get bigger and become heavy enough,
they fall as precipitation (rain).”
Warnings such as the one from
NIHSA are not meant to stop the forces of nature from having their way,
but to help humans to plan in many ways. For example, the Nigerian
Meteorological Agency issued sufficient warning in 2012 about the
impending floods, but it was not heeded. This was probably why the
impact was so devastating. The current warning is, therefore, meant to
guide farmers, for instance, on when to plant so that their crops would
not be washed away. It is also a reminder on the need to keep water
channels free so that when it rains the water will quickly find its way
into the sea, rivers and streams, instead of collecting as a result of
blocked channels.
Apart from clearing drainage
channels to allow for the free passage of water, this is the time for
city planners to remove obstructions on water paths, including buildings
illegally constructed on such places. Coastal cities like Lagos,
Calabar and Port Harcourt are more likely to be affected by flash flood,
but if the drainage system is not blocked, the water would quickly
disappear when the rain stops. It will help to mitigate the impact.
Managers of the various dams
across the country should also be careful when releasing excess water
from their dams. Indiscriminate release of water from the dams has been
one of the reasons for flooding in the country. When there is the need
to release water, it should be done in a controlled manner.
The National Emergency
Management Agency and other emergency response organisations should also
be well equipped to be able to respond when the need arises. In
Nigeria, the response has always been poor, riddled with stories of
diversion of materials for private use and people turning up at disaster
areas without the knowledge of what steps to take. There may also be
the need for evacuation. This is the time to prepare adequately, so
that, once again, the country would not be taken by surprise.

Tonto Dikeh and Bimbo Coker who happens to be Olakunle Churchill’s
Ex-wife have joined forces to slam their ex-husband, Churchill Olakunle
and his family.
Recall that Churchill Olakunle married Bimbo Coker in December 2012 but their relationship failed and he moved on to marry Tonto Dikeh.
In her interview with MediaRoom Hub, Dikeh said she never knew the philanthropist was previously married until Coker shared the photos online, shutting down claims that she intentionally snatched a married man from his family.
And now, it seems the actress is already best of friends with Coker, as shortly after OAP Lara Olubo published the text Tonto Dikeh allegedly sent her mother-in-law, Coker (@sexyslim1110) took to Instagram to defend Tonto Dikeh.

Here Are The Funny ‘Things’ Abba Kyari Did To Arrest Evans The Kidnapper
Abba Kyari, the Head of the Intelligence Response Team, Assistant
Commissioner of Police has revealed the funny things he did to capture
Evans The Kidnapper.
He revealed that he had to take a ride on a commercial motorcycle, popularly known as okada, to enable him move faster to the Magodo GRA Phase II residence of notorious kidnap kingpin, Chukwudi Onuamadike, aka Evans, to effect his arrest.
He revealed that he had to take a ride on a commercial motorcycle, popularly known as okada, to enable him move faster to the Magodo GRA Phase II residence of notorious kidnap kingpin, Chukwudi Onuamadike, aka Evans, to effect his arrest.
Kyari said to avoid any delay due to the usual chaotic traffic
situation on Lagos roads, he had to quickly jump on a commercial
motorcycle from his Ikeja GRA location to Magodo GRA Phase II to arrest
Evans, who he had earlier been informed by his men already deployed in
the area, was making frantic preparations to leave his mansion very
soon.
Read what he said below
“At about 1.30am, Evans and some of his gang members went
out to a club around Ikeja and returned at 5.10am. So, we were very sure
Sunday would be our day. So, I decided to go and cleanup myself and
have a little rest before I returned to Magodo. I was still resting when
my guys called that the target was set; that it appeared he wanted to
go out. So, I had to take Okada from where I was, to meet up.
“You won’t believe this, but it’s the truth. Do you know that
when my surveillance team alerted me of the suspect’s
presence at his Magodo mansion, I had no other option than to take Okada
from where I was at Ikeja GRA to Magodo?”
Kyari said though it might sound funny, policemen sometimes must do “unconventional things” to get at their targets or what they actually wanted.
“I was approaching former tollgate, when I got another call
that he might drive out any moment. So, I instructed my guys to give
him warning shots; that was to announce our presence, and that kept him
indoors until I got there and directed the affairs,” he said.
The IRT boss stated that he and his team had been on Evans’ trail for
close to 10 years until the kidnap kingpin met his waterloo last
Sunday.
“We have been following him, through intelligence gathering and surveillance, but we have always lost him.
He is a very intelligent criminal with a very sound IQ, I must tell you,” he said.
Kyari further disclosed that he and his team mounted a surveillance
on Evans five days before last Sunday, when he was finally arrested.
“When we tracked him to Lagos, I was in Abuja. The moment I
was sure he was in Lagos, we moved down to Lagos on Monday of that week.
We came by road and slept at a police station close to Evans’ residence
and started our surveillance on him,” he said.
Man Catches His Wife Having Sex With Her Ex On Their Matrimonial Bed In Ibadan
A barber, Gbenga Akinade, on Friday at an Ibadan Grade C Customary Court, secured the dissolution of his six-year-old marriage on grounds of infidelity.
Gbenga had told the court that his wife, Busayo, had sex with her former husband on his (Gbenga’s) matrimonial bed, adding that he could no longer tolerate her adulterous way.He testified that he met the defendant when she was hawking herbal liquor (Agbo-Jedi), and that both of them agreed to marry after few months of courtship.
He said, “I did not know that she was a divorcee with two kids until she got pregnant for me. I began to suspect her adulterous ways after she gave birth to our second child.
“She used to go out for two or three days, leaving the children with neighbours.
“Her immoral affairs with her ex-husband came into open recently when I caught her having sex with the man on our matrimonial bed.
“I beat the hell out of her that day but allowed the man to go because unpleasant things might happen if I beat him.
“I decided for divorce in order to forget how I met her with her ex-husband on my bed.”
The petitioner prayed the court to allow him to have the custody of his children.
“I promise to take good care of them,’’ he said.
The respondent, in her defence, said that her estranged husband was aware that she had two children before he married her.
She, however, was silent on the allegation that she had sex with her ex-husband on Gbenga’s matrimonial bed.
Busayo added that Gbenga regularly beat her.
She pleaded with the court to peacefully resolve the conflict.
“I am not ready to leave my matrimonial home and my children,’’ she said.
The President of the court, Chief Mukaila Balogun, dissolved the marriage on grounds of lack of love.
“The opinion of the court is that there is no more love between the parties based on the testimonies of the couple,’’ he said.
Balogun ordered that two of the three children should be in the custody of their father while the last child should be with the mother.
The president of the court ordered the petitioner to be paying N4, 000 monthly to the respondent for the upkeep of the only child with her.

Suspected Boko Haram militants kill two in police ambush in northeast Nigeria: police
By Lanre Ola and Ahmed Kingimi
MAIDUGURI, Nigeria (Reuters) - Suspected Boko Haram militants killed two people and wounded six others in an ambush on a police convoy in northeast Nigeria's Borno state on Tuesday, a police spokesman said.
Borno has been the state worst hit by the eight-year insurgency by Boko Haram that has killed more than 20,000 people and forced some 2.7 million people to flee their homes in its bid to create an Islamic caliphate.
The raid was the latest in a spate of attacks in the state, birthplace of the insurgency, over the last two weeks. Suicide bombings killed 12 people on Monday and 14 people died in an attack on state capital Maiduguri on June 7.
Borno state police spokesman Damian Chukwu said vehicles including a police patrol convoy and a funeral procession were ambushed on a road around 30 kilometers from Maiduguri. Two people were killed - a policeman and a commercial driver.
Boko Haram has been pushed out of most of the territory that it controlled in early 2015 - a swathe of land around the size of Belgium - by Nigeria's army and troops from neighboring countries.
But insurgents continue to carry out suicide bombings and raids in northeast Nigeria, Cameroon and Niger.

MOST WANTED KIDNAPER "EVANS" BECOME CELEBRITY
The capture of Nigeria’s most-wanted kidnapper should have been a
cause for national celebration in the West African country, which has
been blighted by high-profile abductions and ransom payments for years.
But instead, many Nigerians have been left angry by what they view as the national media glamorizing the crimes of Chukwudi Dumeme Onuamadike, popularly known as Evans.
Police
in the port city of Lagos captured Evans from Anambra State, in
southeastern Nigeria, earlier in June following a gun battle with the
suspect and his associates. The 36-year-old is allegedly responsible for
the abductions of numerous victims, including foreign nationals,
traditional chiefs and wealthy businessmen. For some of these, he
reportedly demanded ransoms of up to $1 million—almost 400 times the
average annual income of a person in Nigeria. Unsurprisingly, Evans is
thought to be one of Nigeria’s wealthiest criminals, owning two mansions
in an upmarket Lagos district and another two in Accra, the capital of
Ghana.
But
now, Nigerians on social media are fuming over the media scrum for
coverage of Evans. The alleged kidnapper has given interviews to several
major Nigerian outlets, including a nearly nine-minute video interview
with Channels Television, one of the country’s biggest networks, that
has been viewed almost a quarter of a million times on YouTube. Evans’s
wife and family have made emotional appeals for his release, and photos of his luxury properties have been published.
This
has not gone down well with Nigerians on social media, who have called
for harsh penalties for the alleged criminal. (Earlier in 2017, the
Lagos governor signed a decree authorizing the death penalty for
kidnappers in cases in which the victim dies.)

TEN SUPRISING FACTS ABOUT FAILURE
Failure
is always a demoralizing and upsetting experience. You cannot always
control whether difficult things happen to you in life but you can
control, to a large extent, how you react to them. Failure makes your
mind trick you into believing things that aren't true. Unless you learn
to respond to failures in psychologically adaptive ways, they will
paralyze you, demotivate you, and limit your likelihood of success going
forward.
Psychologically speaking, the most important thing to do after a failure is to understand its impact, how it affects your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Here are ten surprising facts about failure that will help you turn a difficult and painful experience into a potentially constructive and useful one.
1. Failure makes the same goal seem less attainable. In one study, people kicked an American football over a goalpost in an unmarked field and then estimated how far and high the goalpost was. People who failed estimated the goalpost as being further away and higher than those who had succeeded. In other words, failure automatically distorts your perceptions of your goals and makes them seem more unattainable. Note the word distort—your goals are just as attainable as they were before you failed; it is only your perceptions that changed. You can choose to ignore these new perceptions, and you should. Indeed, changing how you view your goals is not the only way in which failure distorts your perceptions...
2. Failure also distorts your perceptions of your abilities. Much as it makes your goals seem further out of reach, failure also distorts your perceptions of your actual abilities by making you feel less up to the task. Once you fail, you are likely to assess your skills, intelligence, and capabilities incorrectly and see them as significantly weaker than they actually are. Knowing this and correcting for it in your mind is important because by making you devalue your abilities...
3. Failure makes you believe you’re helpless. One of the most common and strongest feelings people have after failing is helplessness. Failure causes an emotional wound. Your mind responds to this wound by trying to get you to give up so it doesn’t get wounded again—and its best way of getting you to give up is to make you feel helpless. By making you feel as if there is nothing you can do to succeed, your mind might avoid future failures but you will be robbed of successes as well—which is why you shouldn’t always listen to your feelings. But that is not the only way your mind can work against you:
4. A single failure experience can create an unconscious "fear of failure." Some people are convinced they have a "fear of success." They don’t—they have a fear of failure. The problem with most fears of failure is they are unconscious, which means you’re not actually dealing with whether the fear is real, reasonable, or likely. Which then means you’re also not addressing how to increase your likelihood of success; you’re just trying to avoid feeling bad if you fail. This unconscious focus on avoiding future failure rather than securing future success leads people to act out:
5. Fear of failure often leads to unconscious self-sabotaging. One of the most common ways people try to buffer themselves against the pain of future failure is by self-handicapping—creating excuses and situations that can justify why they failed, like going to a party the night before an exam and claiming they were tired or hung over; developing psychosomatic symptoms such as headaches and stomach aches that made it hard to concentrate; or magnifying a small "crisis," such as the need to spend two hours on the phone with an upset friend, to justify why they were unable to prepare for a job interview. These kinds of behaviors often turn into self-fulfilling prophecies because they sabotage your efforts and increase your likelihood of failure. Another reason you need to recognize such unconscious fears is that...
6. Fear of failure can be transmitted from parents to children. Studies show that parents who have a fear of failure can unwittingly transmit it to their children by reacting harshly or withdrawing emotionally when their children fail—thus conveying to them, often unconsciously, that failure is unacceptable. This, of course, raises the stakes for their children and makes them more likely to develop a fear of failure of their own. Another impact this has:
7. The pressure to succeed increases performance anxiety and causes choking. When a golfer misses a crucial easy putt, a bowler gutters the last ball, or a trained singer totally misses the power note at the end of an audition song, it is because performance pressure caused them to choke. Choking happens when the pressure to succeed makes you overthink something your brain already knows how to do. As a result, you add an unnecessary "correction" that throws your brain off and screws everything up. Choking is embarrassing and incredibly frustrating but it is also avoidable because it involves overthinking, and so...
8. A great way to overcome choking is to whistle or mutter. By whistling or muttering quietly while you’re taking a shot, bowling, pitching, singing—whatever it is—and focusing on the task itself, you’re stealing just enough attentional resources from your brain to prevent it from overthinking and correcting something that doesn’t require correction. While choking refers to automatic tasks like those involved in sports or performance, another common factor that causes failure is lapses in will power—and those typically occur not because the person lacks will power but because you need to understand how will power operates:
9. Willpower is like a muscle—it needs rest and glucose to function best. Much like muscles can become fatigued when they are overused, when your willpower fails you it is because it is over-worked and under-nourished. Our brains require glucose to operate and when they don’t have enough of it, our cognitive resources (attention, concentration); our executive functioning (planning, decision making); and our willpower all begin to drop or fail. That is why crash diets often end in binging—they deplete the person’s willpower so severely that they lose their self-control all at once and eat everything in sight. Therefore, be aware of how much effort and willpower you’re exerting during the day and make sure to rest, eat a little, and be ready to be more vigilant and to revisit your motivations when you begin to feel your willpower fading. By taking control of your willpower you are doing the one thing that is crucial to overcoming failure:
10. The psychologically healthiest response to failure is to focus on variables in your control. Failure can make you feel demoralized, helpless, hopeless, and anxious (both consciously and unconsciously) but you can fight back. Break down the task or goal in question to those aspects that are in your control and those that are not. Then go through the list of aspects that are not in your control and figure out how to take control of them—by improving your skill-set, planning, relationships, knowledge, preparation, etc. Now focus solely on those aspects that are in your control. Feeling in control is a literal antidote to feelings of helplessness and demoralization that will motivate you to try again, minimize your chances of another failure, and increase your likelihood of success.

Feeling in control is a literal antidote to feelings of helplessness and demoralization that will motivate you to try again, minimize your chances of another failure, and increase your likelihood of success.

what life is all about
WHAT IS THIS LIFE?
A man is born today, Tomorrow he is dead.
A man lives in a mansion today, Tomorrow he lives
underground.
A man is born today, Tomorrow he is dead.
A man lives in a mansion today, Tomorrow he lives
underground.
A man drives a car today, Tomorrow an ambulance
drives him.
A man reads biology today, Tomorrow a biography
is been read of him.
A man eats whatever he wants today, Tomorrow he
becomes food for insects.
A man is always early for work today, Tomorrow he
is termed late Mr/Mrs.
A man is seen resting in his house today, Tomorrow he is resting in a coffin. And they say "Rest In Peace"!
A man eats all kinds of fruits in his house today,
Tomorrow he becomes manure to those trees.
A man is known today as the richest man ever,
Tomorrow he doesn't even know where or what will
happen to his riches.
What is life after all?
Plan your life because you may not see tomorrow.
But when your life is well planned you won't Be
afraid of any thing.
ACT RIGHT AND LIVE GODLY. ALWAYS BE A HELPING HAND TO OTHERS.
Come to think of this?.......
1. Eternal life = free
2. Church entrance = free
3. Christ's salvation = free
4. God's love = free
5. Breath of life = free
A. Cigarette = pay
B. Prostitution = pay
C. Alcohol =pay
D. Nightclub entrance fee= pay
E. Powers to rule the world = pay
Then why are people paying for hell while PARADISE is free?
Think twice
Believe in Christ and you shall be saved..
We always think of Valentine's day
Birth day
Father's day
Mother's day
Children's day
Our day,
Farmer's day
Teacher's day
Christmas day
Independence day
Boxing day,
This day,
That day,
Day in Day out.
Have u ever thought of Judgement Day, is it going to be a day of celebration or condemnation for you?
If you are safe, what about your friends & loved ones. Show them love by telling them about the Judgement Day. Please pass this to your 14 loved ones, let heaven be happy for you today. Please don't say later, do it now because tomorrow may be too late.

LIFE
When life has got you in a slump, turn to these inspirational short
stories. Not only is reading them like getting an internet hug for the
soul, but they just may spark an idea or a change in you for the better.
Read on and get ready to smile.
1. Everyone Has a Story in Life
A 24 year old boy seeing out from the train’s window shouted…
“Dad, look the trees are going behind!”
Dad smiled and a young couple sitting nearby, looked at the 24 year old’s childish behavior with pity, suddenly he again exclaimed…
“Dad, look the clouds are running with us!”
The couple couldn’t resist and said to the old man…
“Why don’t you take your son to a good doctor?” The old man smiled and said…“I did and we are just coming from the hospital, my son was blind from birth, he just got his eyes today.”
Every single person on the planet has a story. Don’t judge people before you truly know them. The truth might surprise you.
2. Shake off Your Problems
A man’s favorite donkey falls into a deep precipice. He can’t pull it out no matter how hard he tries. He therefore decides to bury it alive.
Soil is poured onto the donkey from above. The donkey feels the load, shakes it off, and steps on it. More soil is poured.
It shakes it off and steps up. The more the load was poured, the higher it rose. By noon, the donkey was grazing in green pastures.
After much shaking off (of problems) And stepping up (learning from them), One will graze in GREEN PASTURES.

3. The Elephant Rope
As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.
He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. “Well,” trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”
The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn’t, they were stuck right where they were.
Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before?
Failure is part of learning; we should never give up the struggle in life.
4. Potatoes, Eggs, and Coffee Beans
Once upon a time a daughter complained to her father that her life was miserable and that she didn’t know how she was going to make it. She was tired of fighting and struggling all the time. It seemed just as one problem was solved, another one soon followed.
Her father, a chef, took her to the kitchen. He filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Once the three pots began to boil, he placed potatoes in one pot, eggs in the second pot, and ground coffee beans in the third pot.
He then let them sit and boil, without saying a word to his daughter. The daughter, moaned and impatiently waited, wondering what he was doing.
After twenty minutes he turned off the burners. He took the potatoes out of the pot and placed them in a bowl. He pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl.
He then ladled the coffee out and placed it in a cup. Turning to her he asked. “Daughter, what do you see?”
“Potatoes, eggs, and coffee,” she hastily replied.
“Look closer,” he said, “and touch the potatoes.” She did and noted that they were soft. He then asked her to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, he asked her to sip the coffee. Its rich aroma brought a smile to her face.
“Father, what does this mean?” she asked.
He then explained that the potatoes, the eggs and coffee beans had each faced the same adversity– the boiling water.
However, each one reacted differently.
The potato went in strong, hard, and unrelenting, but in boiling water, it became soft and weak.
The egg was fragile, with the thin outer shell protecting its liquid interior until it was put in the boiling water. Then the inside of the egg became hard.
However, the ground coffee beans were unique. After they were exposed to the boiling water, they changed the water and created something new.
“Which are you,” he asked his daughter. “When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a potato, an egg, or a coffee bean? “
Moral:In life, things happen around us, things happen to us, but the only thing that truly matters is what happens within us.
Which one are you?
5. A Dish of Ice Cream
In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10 year old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him.
“How much is an ice cream sundae?”
“50 cents,” replied the waitress.
The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and studied a number of coins in it.
“How much is a dish of plain ice cream?” he inquired. Some people were now waiting for a table and the waitress was a bit impatient.
“35 cents,” she said brusquely.
The little boy again counted the coins. “I’ll have the plain ice cream,” he said.
The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and departed.
When the waitress came back, she began wiping down the table and then swallowed hard at what she saw.
There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were 15 cents – her tip.

IMPORTANT THING ABOUT LIFE
IMPORTANT THING ABOUT LIFE
A philosophy professor stood before
his class with some items on the table in front of him. When the class
began, wordlessly he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and
proceeded to fill it with rocks, about 2 inches in diameter. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into
the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into
the open areas between the rocks.
He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up the remaining open areas of the jar.
He then asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous “Yes.”
“Now,” said the professor, “I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The rocks are the important things – your family, your partner, your health, your children – things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter – like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything else, the small stuff.”
“If you put the sand into the jar first,” he continued, “there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take your partner out dancing. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party, or fix the disposal.”
“Take care of the rocks first – the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.”
He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

THE 48 BLACKLISTED CBT
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has blacklisted 48
Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres over their involvement in extortion
and organized examination malpractices during the 2017 Unified Tertiary
Matriculation Examination (UTME). JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Is-haq
Oloyede, made the disclosure, Wednesday, in Abuja at a news conference
at the end of an enlarged meeting with external examiners and other
stakeholders in the conduct of the 2017 UTME. JAMB candidates Oloyede,
who also announced the cancellation of the results of 59,698 candidates
who sat for the examination, said another 24 CBT centres had been
suspended for one year for failing to live up to expectations. “The (24
CBT) centres will not participate in the 2018 UTME, but they can be
reconsidered for 2019 and above. “The delisting of 48 centres from
participating in the board’s examination in future is as a result of
serious technical deficiencies, extortion, organised examination
malpractices and other damaging infractions.” He said that JAMB had
fixed July 1, 2017 as the date for supplementary examination for
candidates who registered late for this year’s UTME. Oloyede added that
some of the candidates whose results were cancelled, would also take
part in the rescheduled exam. The JAMB boss said the decision to allow
the candidates sit for the rescheduled examination was reached after a
thorough review of all the reports that emanated from their centres.
According to him, 1,386 candidates have their results cancelled over
examination malpractice; 57,646 results were also affected as a result
of centres-induced malpractices while the results of 666 candidates were
cancelled due to multiple examinations. He listed the categories of
candidates whose results were cancelled but would take part in the
rescheduled examination to include candidates of centres with mass
malpractices but who are deemed innocent, biometric non-verification
machine related issues. Others include technical and log out issues,
late registration, incomplete results and candidates who lost
examination sessions due to malfunctioning of servers at the affected
centre.
